Department of Geography was started in the year 2016. The department enumerating the Charming field-oriented study explore both the physical properties of the Earth’s surface and the human societies spread across it.

Geography frames and answers fundamental quires allied with the functioning of human and physical environment that affect our everyday life. It able us to make sensible judgement about matters involving relationships between the physical environment and society.

The most burning issues of Global Climate Change, Globalisation, population growth and sustainable development are part of the geography study. The proper understanding of such issues helps us to act like a responsible citizen. Its cross disciplinary nature teaches us a whole range of skills can be used in our continuing academic learning and future careers.

Geography provides a wide career opportunities in the field of teaching, research, training, Rural-Urban Planning management and technological expert services in the field of remote sensing and GIS application.

Programmes Offered

BSc Geography

Bachelor of Science Graduation Degree is affiliated to Kannur University regular graduation programme. The Programme is being run as per the Syllabus prescribed by the University in 6 Semesters in 3 year.

Eligibility: A candidate passed with 45% marks in +2/HSE/VHSE/PUC are eligible to apply.

Courses of Study: As per Kannur University curriculum, the following courses are included in programme.

  • English

First 2 years of study have English course in each semester.

  • Language

Student can choose Malayalam or Hindi course, taught for 4 Semesters

  • Core Courses

Geography academic courses in every semesters.

  • Complimentary Courses

Department offers 2 Complementary papers viz, Statistics and Geology

  • Generic Elective Course

A student can opt 1 course for study in their 5-semester taught in departments other than Geography.
