The Department of Travel and Tourism Management was established in 2008 and is envisaged as a Centre of Higher Learning in the fast growing areas of Tourism industry. The department is dedicated for the overall development of an individual through academic dominance, professional capability and other skills. The Department aims to provide training in tourism and travel industry management and related subjects and also provides opportunities to students to join with top players in tourism industry in such a way that they are prepared professionally in the tourism carrier .The Department offers UG and PG course in tourism management. The 3 year under graduate degree course- BA Travel and Tourism Management later rescheduled as Bachelor of Travel and Tourism Management (BTTM).This Department of the college became the first institute in Kannur University to introduce a two-year Post-graduate Programme in Tourism-Master of Tourism Administration (MTA),later rescheduled as Master of Travel and Tourism Management (MTTM) in 2013.
The mission of the Department is to become a moderator of change for socially responsible, humanitarian, resourceful, competent leadership in tourism sector by providing systematic, standardized and quality education for current and upcoming prospects of tourism business, management and academics through the practice of exploration, research and outreach.

The department has organized 2 National seminars and several outreach programmers. National Seminar on Tourism and Modern Community on 19th and 20th January 2015.

The department organizes World Tourism Day celebrations on 27th September annually and National Tourism Day will be celebrated on January 25th annually.
The department offers its students to mingle with renowned scholars/academicians in tourism management to be acquainted with tourism academics and research.
The experts of tourism industry such as Academician, entrepreneur, hotelier, travel agent, tour operator, travel writers, bloggers and teachers from other universities will take some classes for both UG and PG classes annually .
The workshop on tourism in many fields such as air line operations, office automation, tour packages, houseboat operations are organized annually.
The inter departmental tourism quiz programs organized annually for the students of other department of the college.]
It is necessary for a student to visit a destination and make a detailed study in tourism development within the course study period.
Post graduate students help other consultancies and organization by taking part in research activities in tourism destinations. The department also prepares mini- research activities.
The students will get an opportunity to learn and practice automated ticketing activities prescribed by IATA through software like Amedeus, Galileo etc.
The Department has a track record of excellent placements for its students. The students will get an opportunity to mingle with industry through national tours , travel agency training and five star hotel training. The final placements, coordinated by the students’ committee under the placement officer will stared by the last semester and will end up with campus placement programmes.
Organization including multinationals, regularly visit the campus and most of the students are absorbed through campus selection. Companies that recruited the students of the department in the past include:
Thomas cook, SOTC, Cox &Kings, SITA, Jet Airways, ICIC Bank, HDFC Bank, Yatra.com, Make my trip and various governmental and space semi-governmental tourism boards.
Some of the students choose to be self-made entrepreneurs.A few others prefer to join academics by enrolling for the doctoral program.
