Welcome to the PCASC Library and Information Centre

    Our Resource Centre is aesthetically designed, well maintained and fully automated with a rich collection of books and periodicals related to academic and allied subjects. The library aims to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the teaching, learning and the research needs of the staff and students community. It has a total collection of more than 10,000 documents and subscribes 41 Journals and magazines. The library also enriched with inclusive collection of bounded volumes, audio-visual materials, CDs/DVDs, project reports, case studies, charts and maps. Open access system is followed in the library and the books are well stacked in accordance with International Dewey Decimal System. In addition to traditional library system we also have Online Library Portal and Digital Library system. The PCASC Online Library primes to connect with numerous e-resource applications to its user community while the Digital library to collect, preserve and distribute the digital resources amongst the students and staff. Thus our Library has perfectly equipped to inspire the students and the staff community towards pursuit of knowledge.

 Library Membership

    The faculty members, current students, and other supporting staff are eligible to use the library facilities and resources with their membership. Each prospective member shall give in writing an undertaking to abide by the rules of the library. He/she shall fill up a membership form authorized by the concerned Department Heads/Principal. Barcoded library Cards will be issued to the students after the commencement of each course, followed by the library orientation Programme.

Borrowing Privileges for Members

UG Students can take 2 books at a time for 15 days

P.G. Students can take 3 books at a time for 15 days

FACULTY can take 10 books at a time for 60 days

Non- teaching Staff can take 05 books at a time for 60 days

 Lending conditions

  • Documents that can / can't be borrowed: The Books from the general shelf, back volumes of magazines and periodicals can be borrowed from the library for a prescribed period. The Reference books and other special collections are not allowed outside library without prior permission. The latest available issue of the Journals and periodicals, magazines and weeklies, Bound Volumes, Maps, charts and Dissertations/Project reports submitted by Students, are to be referred within library premises and are not available for issuing out. Loan for audio-visual items and computer software are restricted for circulation .On the special circumstances, these materials may be issued with discretion of the Librarian.
  • Renewals, Reservations and Over Due charges: For renewal, a member must bring books to Circulation Counter. If a borrowed book is not on demand, then borrower may renew the book consecutively two times. The Library has the right to recall a book if the same is required by another user. An over-due charge of Rs.5/- per book per day shall be charged against each book not returned within the due date.
  • Loss/mutilation/damage to documents by Students: Borrowers are responsible for the documents they borrow. Documents lost, torn or damaged (tearing of pages, underlining, making notes, damaging of binding and the like) shall attract serious action including suspension of membership and/or replacement of documents concern. The lost/damaged document shall be replaced by the borrower with latest edition. (Hard bound or Paper back as the case be) else equivalent amount plus an additional charge of 20% of the price for the documents published abroad and 10% for the documents published in India. If the damaged document belongs to a set, then the user is responsible for the entire set. In case, lost/mutilated/damage document is out of print, any amount as fixed by the Librarian is liable to pay by the borrower.
  • Theft and Misuse of Library resources: The theft or abuse of Library resources like books, journal issues, Project reports, and dissertations will be viewed very seriously. If found guilty, the matter will be reported to Principal and then Board of Directors for needful action.

 General Rules & Regulations of the College Library

    Every user incoming the Library should strictly adhere to the General Rules framed by the Management from time to time. Rules are applicable to all faculties as well as students and well-wishers intending to use the Library facility and resources
  1. The faculty members, current students, and other supporting staff are eligible to use the library facilities and resources with their membership
  2. All personal belongings, such as books, bags, coat, umbrella, personal files, Xerox materials that do not belong to the library, must be deposited in the library counter at the entrance of the library.
  3. The staff members at the entrance gate of the Library are authorized to check the person if he/she suspects that he/she is carrying any other property from/to the Library.
  4. Library users should enter his/her name, designation/ course, semester time-in and time-out etc. in the visitors register kept at the entrance.
  5. The Students/staff must carry their College Identity Card/library membership card with them at all time inside the Library. Show the Identity Card compulsory at the time of books check-out/check-in or whenever asked by the library staff.
  6. Library provides 'open access' facility to the users. Users are advised not to replace the books on shelves. They may leave the books on table after use.
  7. Reference books, rare books, unbound periodicals and books of special category may not be issued generally except with the written permission of the Librarian.
  8. Library cards are not transferable, the card holders should come personally to borrow the books and the authorization is not allowed.
  9. Each library cards will enable the holder to borrow only one book at time
  10. Copies of same book will not be issued to a member at a time
  11. Books shall be issued to staff for a period of 60 days and one term renewal allowed.
  12. Books are issued for students for a period of 15 days in the first instance and if required, the same book can be renewed further one more time for a period of 15 days each and thus no book will be allowed to be kept with a student beyond 30 days.
  13. The books may be renewed if the same are not in demand or are not reserved by other readers. The renewal will be done on the physical presentation of the books, but in special cases, renewals by telephone or by other means of communication may be allowed by the Librarian.
  14. Every borrower is responsible for the safe custody and return of the book borrowed from the library.
  15. Readers should not deface, mark, cut, mutilate or damage library resources in any way. If anyone is found doing so, he/she will be charged the full replacement cost of the resource. Books Borrowed should be protected from rain, fire, dust, insets, etc.
  16. In case any book is lost or damaged by the member, the member shall replace the book or shall pay the cost of replacement. If a book is one of the volumes of a set, the reader may be asked to replace the whole set.
  17. An over-due charge of Rs.5/- per book per day shall be charged against each book not returned within the due date.
  18. If a member does not pay off the library fine/dues, the privilege of borrowing books may be suspended till he/she deposits the requested amount.
  19. If the Library card is lost, it should be brought to the notice of the Librarian immediately. A duplicate card will be issued on payment of Rs.50.
  20. Worn-out Library cards can be exchanged for a fresh card on payment of Rs.25/-
  21. Downloading of undesirable e-resources shall not be allowed at library and punishable if violated.
  22. Strict discipline should be maintained in the library. The position of the chairs and tables should not be changed or displaced.
  23. The readers shall behave in a civilized manner. The Librarian may expel any person who acts against the law and order situation. The borrowing facility can be withdrawn or restricted in case of misbehavior of users for their misuse of the library.
  24. All readers are required to maintain perfect silence and discipline in the library
  25. No visitor or guest is permitted to use the Library without the prior permission of the Librarian. He/ She is required to produce a proper introduction letter from the head of concerned institution.
  26. No photograph of the Library shall be taken without the prior permission of the Librarian.
  27. Beverages and edibles are not allowed inside the library.
  28. Use of mobile phone is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  29. No reader is allowed to sleep in the library.
  30. Members are advised to look frequently at the Library Notice Board.
  31. Keep the library clean. Use dustbins provided in the library
  32. The library may not accept telephone calls on behalf of readers
  33. Readers may not use library telephone or computer
  34. The librarian shall have the power to refuse the issue of book to any member or he may recall any book without conveying any reason therefore.
  35. Staff members should return all documents borrowed from the library and take library Non-liability Certificate while Transfer/Deputation/Superannuation from the college.
  36. All documents borrowed from the library by the students should be returned on or before the last working day of the final Semester examinations or on the date fixed by the librarian
  37. The closing hours of library is at 5pm. Members advised to leave ten minutes before the closing hour of library.
  38. Take care of your belongings Library won’t be responsible for any loss of user’s belongings.

 How to make use your Library

The following procedures to be followed each section given below
Circulation section

1.The Library follows Open Access System

2.You should present the book along with your Borrowers Card to the staff at the circulation counter.

3.You should check if the materials are in a good condition before borrow it . If not persuade the library staff

4.After necessary checking, Library staff will issue the book by scanning the barcode and stamp the due date on the due date label

5.Books should be brought physically for return and renewals in general.

6.The books can be returned by replacing the book cards in the book pockets/ sign in the computer, after necessary checking.

Reference Section

1. Reference Books are kept in the Reference Section of Library

2. Books stamped with "Reference book” are not allowed to be taken away from the Library unless prior permission is given.

3. You should record the details in the References Register while you take a Reference Book

4. Return the “Reference” books to the Library staff and collect the I D Cards while leaving the library

Periodicals Section

1. The latest volumes of Periodicals and magazines will be accessible at periodical section for browsing

2. You shall replace the magazines and periodicals to the display rack while living the library

1. You shall submit the feedback form including the details of online searches

 Other Informations

1. Circulation Service: Enables the internal and external loan services for the library attendants. The borrowing service is rendered only to those who have Library membership Cards.
2. Reference Service: The Library has a comprehensive collection of reference books, bounded volumes of journals and magazines. Reference Services provides a number of services including answering any inquiries from the reader, either in person or by phone. Help could be provided to get the resources of information.
3. Inter Library Loan : The Central Library maintains excellent exchange relations with nearby libraries.
4. Reprography Service: Photocopy facility has been made available for readers to make copies from Reference Books and Journals etc. The users can also take print outs of documents downloaded through Internet/Digital Library with nominal cost.
5. Audio Visual facility : Use of audio-visual and electronic material such as video, CD-ROMs, slides etc are provided at library to promote teachings programs of the respective subject areas
6. Language Learning: Foreign languages learning methods especially Spoken English, materials CDs and exercise books are available at library for improving the communication skills of the Students
7. Wi-Fi Facility in the Library : Free Wi-Fi facility is made available at library
